Form analytics tools.
Most analytics tools count a form twice: when someone starts it and when they send it. The useful part is in between, the field people stop on. These tools run from showing every field to counting submits. Moxel is one of them, and this page says where it is the wrong pick.
8 tools, each checked against its own site in November 2026.
SHORT ANSWER
Pick by what you need.
- Every field
- Zuko, Mouseflow and Moxel. Matomo does it as a paid feature.
- Free
- Mouseflow's free plan, up to 500 sessions a month. Google Analytics counts form starts and submits for free.
- No cookies, no recordings
- Moxel. It records field names and timings, never the screen or the text typed.
- Watch it happen
- Microsoft Clarity, Mouseflow and Lucky Orange record sessions, so you can watch one person fill the form in.
Want to set it up in Google Analytics yourself? How to track form abandonment
HOW WE CHOSE
What counted.
- Each tool has to say something about forms on its own site.
- We read each tool's own site and docs in November 2026. Where a page did not say something, we left it out.
- We do not quote prices. They change. Each entry says free or paid, and links to the tool's own page.
- The order runs from tools that show every field to tools that only count submits. It is not a ranking.
- Moxel's maker wrote this page. We say so, and we say where Moxel is the wrong choice.

QUESTIONS
Asked a lot.
- What is form analytics?
- It measures what happens inside a form: which fields people fill, where they stop, how long each field takes and which ones fail. A normal analytics tool only counts that the form was started and sent.
- Is there a free form analytics tool?
- Mouseflow's free plan includes form analytics, limited to 500 sessions a month. Clarity is free but shows forms in recordings rather than counts. Google Analytics counts form starts and submits for free.
- Do form analytics tools record what people type?
- They should not need to. Moxel records field names, timings and errors, never the text. Recording tools like Clarity and Lucky Orange mask sensitive fields in their replays. Check each tool's privacy page for the details.
- How do I track form abandonment in Google Analytics?
- Google Analytics 4 records form_start and form_submit with enhanced measurement on. Anything finer, like the last field someone touched, needs custom events through Google Tag Manager. Our field guide has the steps.
