What a counter sees
A visit counter sees one thing. Someone arrived. Maybe which page, maybe from where. Then a number goes up by one, and that is the whole story it can tell.
What actually happened
The visitor in the reel read your headline for four seconds. Scrolled halfway down. Stopped. Tapped a button three times in a row. Nothing happened. Left.
That triple tap has a name. Product teams call it a rage click: the same spot pressed again and again in a short burst. It usually means the thing looks clickable and is not, or it is clickable and too slow to show it did anything. Datadog and FullStory both track it as a frustration signal.
The usual dead buttons
- A picture that looks like a link and is not one.
- A button that submits but shows no spinner, so people press again.
- A link that goes to a page that is still "coming soon".
- Bold text styled like a button because a designer liked the look.
TRY THIS TODAYOpen your site on your phone and tap everything that looks tappable. Anything that does nothing, make it do something or make it stop looking like a button. Anything slow, add a loading state so people know it worked.
Moxel records taps at its Vibey and Feral depths and flags an element once it gets pressed over and over. The fix list names it, like "Book now got pressed over and over". More in what rage clicks mean.

Asked a lot
- What is a rage click?
- The same spot tapped or clicked several times in a short burst. It usually means something looks clickable but does nothing, or responds too slowly.
- Can visit counters show why people leave?
- No. A counter only shows that a visit happened. To see why someone left you need what they did on the page, like scroll depth and taps.
