Moxel vs PostHog
PostHog does far more than Moxel: session replay, feature flags, experiments, surveys and a data warehouse, with a large free allowance. Moxel does one job, for one person, with nothing to configure.
THEIRS
Pick PostHog if
- You have a product team, or you are about to.
- You want session replay, feature flags or A/B tests. Moxel has none of them.
- You want to follow signed-in users over months. Moxel counts anonymous visitors, a day at a time.
- You want a big free allowance. PostHog's is generous, and Moxel has no free plan after the trial.
- You want open source, or to query your raw events yourself.
OURS
Pick Moxel if
- You are one person and you want an answer, not a platform.
- You do not want to decide which events to capture, name them, and build the charts.
- You want numbers that explain themselves in a sentence.
- You want no cookies without changing a setting. PostHog can run without them, but that is something you turn on.

What Moxel does not do.
- No session recordings and no heatmaps. Moxel counts what people do. It does not film the screen.
- No visitor locations. Country, region and city are not recorded.
- Returning visitors only within one week. The code that tells people apart resets every Monday, so someone who comes back next week looks new.
- No choice of hosting region, and no EU-only hosting.
- No free plan after the 30-day trial.
BOTH
Can I use Moxel and PostHog together?
You can, but there is little point. If you are already comfortable in PostHog, stay there. Moxel is for the stage before you need it.
